This study aims at identifying the relationship between social anxiety and life orientation among mothers of mentally disabled children in Al-Batinah North Governorate. The researcher has adopted the correlative descriptive approach. The study sample consists of (105) mothers of mentally disable children who are registered at Al-Wafa Rehabilitation Center for Disable children in Al-Batinah North Governorate. The study instruments are Social Anxiety Test, developed by Radwan (2001), and Life Orientation Test, developed by Al-Ansari (2002).
The study results have indicated that social anxiety level among mothers of mentally disabled children is low, while life orientation level is high. There is a negative correlation between social anxiety and life orientation among members of the study sample. There are no statistically significant differences in social anxiety due to variables of (number of family members and disabled child gender). There are statistically significant differences in social anxiety due to variable of (the educational level of the mother) below the general diploma and university diploma in favor of faculty graduates (faculty graduates show less anxiety). There are no statistically significant differences in life orientation due to variables of (number of family members and disabled child gender).
