Abstract
This study aims in the first place at studying the position of the short story in the sultanate of Oman, considering that it is the kind of literature that the writer can give it deep location's
dimensions. Therefore he or she presents his or her social culture and ideas to reflect its uniqueness through the unique society identity. All of that is build upon the principle that the location presents an essential element in the narrative text. Many studies have taken care of the location in depth and it appeared in the narrative texts in the Sultanate of Oman has occurred in various ways.
In order to capture the various occurrences in which location was mentioned, this study is divided into three chapters dominated by application. The first chapter contained reading the location through reality first then through imagination secondly in a way presents the concepts then presents the application for both the real location and the imaginative location as mentioned in the narrative texts. This covers collections of stories from 1993 to 2003.
Chapters two and three were joint by focusing on studying the area between reality and imagination in a way to focus on defining the concept followed by application divided into two frameworks expressing the analytical reading to show location.
Hence, the study will deal with location in several ways following the three frameworks mentioned above concentrating more on how location was described in words and imagination and personalization. It will also show how location is used to express contradictions which depict the conflicting realities in human life and also how it can show the emotions of the people who reside in a certain place.
The study shows that location has not occurred in only one simple way in narrative texts in the Omani literature. On the contrary, location appears in Omani texts in various ways derived from the society.
