The aim of this study was to determine the necessary competencies for the principals of post-basic education schools to carry out knowledge management processes. This study also sought to achieve a main objective that consisted in setting up a proposed training program based on the competency input. : The study followed an descriptive analytical approach to achieve its objectives, and the study tools which comprised the competency input and the proposed training program were also prepared. After these tools had been initially drafted, they were presented to experts in this field where the researcher used expert judgment method to verify the validity of the competency of knowledge management processes and the
training program which is based on these processes. There were Y. experts in three fields: Knowledge management, training and competencies Components of the training program included the following:
Basis for establishing the proposed training program - The proposed training program perspectives and rationale. The proposed training program general objectives - The proposed training program process objectives. The proposed training program executive plan The study was limited to the four processes of knowledge management which the content of the proposed training program included, i.e., generation, storing, sharing and manipulation of knowledge. It was taken into account the fact that each of these aspects should have goals, training activities, methods and modes of training as well as evaluation styles. Trainers( the persons who implement the proposed training program) - Training places. Management of the proposed training program. - Duration of the proposed training program. - Incentives offered to trainees. - Training budget. - Evaluation of both the trainees and the training program. - Procedures for marketing the proposed training program. Therefore, the proposed training program is suitable to perform its roles and fulfill its own mission ,i.e., to develop the knowledge of school principals in carrying out the processes of knowledge
management. It also provides school principals with a set of competencies that help them perform knowledge management in accordance with scientific methodology that facilitates the generation, storing, sharing and manipulation of knowledge in various administrative tasks such as taking decisions, solving problems and strategic planning that aim to improve the quality of school performance.
Accordingly, this study recommends that the Ministry of Education represented by the Directorate General of Human Resource Development implement the proposed training program and include it in its annual training plan that targets school principals.
