This study aimed at finding out the most important criteria to select Omani teachers to work for the Ministry of Education The study attempted to answer the following questions: 1- What are the suggested criteria to select Omani teachers that can be adopted from the theoretical literature and the previous studies? 2- What is the order of the importance of the domains of the suggested criteria to select Omani teachers according to the study sample points of view? 3- What is the order of the importance of the domains of the suggested criteria to select Omani teachers in each domain according to the study sample points of view? 4- What is the order of the importance of the domains of the suggested criteria to select Omani teachers according to the study sample points of view? 5- Are there any significant differences at the level of (a=0.05) among the responses of the study sample in regard to the suggested criteria to select Omani teachers according to the variables of: type of occupation, gender, educational degree, work experience? 6- What are the suggested procedures and recommendations that can be adopted through this study for criteria to select Omani teachers in the Ministry of Education? The study sample included (176) male and female educational supervisors and (132) male and female public school principles. This sample presented 17% from the whole population in all Educational Regions in the Sultanate in the academic year of 2005/2006. To answer the study questions the researcher used a questionnaire which included (46) items divided into (6) domains. A descriptive approach was used to conduct this study. The study results as follow: - The criteria domains were ranked descending as follow: "physical health characters"; "moral requirements"; "academic and professional requirements"; "personal characters"; "ways of selecting teachers"; "scientific and educational requirements". - The following criteria ranked first according to its importance in each domain: "Bachelor in education in the subject of specialization with a grade of at least Good"; "To pass both the professional and personality interviews", "The ability to speak clearly and loudly"; "To be free of chronicle and transferable diseases"; "To have no ethical crimes"; "to be capable of subject matter in the specialization". - The following criteria ranked first according to its importance: "To be free of chronicle and transferable diseases"; "To be free from speaking deficiencies"; "To have healthy five senses"; "To have no ethical crimes". - There were no significant differences at the level of (a=0.05) for the following variables: type of occupation, gender, and academic degree. However, there were significant differences at the level of (a=0.05) for the variables of work experience for the group of (1-5) compared to the group of (6-10) and for group of (11-15) compared to the group of (6-10). The study concluded with some recommendations.
