The present study aims at stating proposed mechanism for implementing distributed leadership among headmaster assistants, senior teachers and teachers, who have potential leadership skills and motives, in addition to their job responsibilities. Also this study is aimed to develop school performance in basic education schools in Sultanate of Oman. The study also attempts to identify theoretical frameworks for distributed leadership and school performance development. In addition, it explores the reality of leadership practices in these schools and whether there are differences in the reality of the practices of the distributed leadership in (5-10) basic education schools according to the study variables (gender - job titles – governorate – qualification), the study sample consists of (645) participants: headmaster assistants, senior teachers and teachers. The descriptive approach is used to achieve the study objectives. A questionnaire is the main tool for collecting data. The questionnaire consists of 30 items distributed in four domains: delegation of authority, on-making, school activities and community partnership. The results of the study showed that the degree of distributed leadership in the basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman "medium" ,the findings show that the implementation of the distributed leadership in basic education schools (5-10) there is a significant between points of view of respondents according to the variables, it showed also that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (a = 0.05), Between the reality of distributed leadership and variable type for men, and found significant differences in the level of significance (a = 0.05) between the reality of distributed leadership, and variable degree of qualification (Bachelor's and above), there are significant differences in the level of (a = 0.05) between the reality of distributed leadership and governorate variable for South batinah, the study also presents some proposed strategies for applying the distributed leadership more efficiently. Upon the results of the study number of recommendations were proposed. The study recommends many mechanisms for the Ministry of Education to activate the implications of distributed leadership among teachers. It also recommended to design some courses and training programs on decision making, team building and task distribution for teachers. Moreover, there should be a general framework for distributed leadership in schools for school performance development for the sake of all schools in all governorates.
