This study is about the most important political developments and events in the Sultanate of Zanzibar, in the era of Sultan Khalifa Bin Hareb Al Busaiidy, whose rule extended for forty-nine years. It was one of the busiest periods of the history with different events, where the nature of the policy adopted by Britain, in the management of the Sultanate, and its direct implications on the course of events and inhabitants in particular. One of the most features of that policy was to dissolve all ties dominated the society for hundreds of years, and replaced that with relations based on race. So Britain has succeeded to tire off entity of the Zanzibarin society. One of the indicators of that policy was known later as ethnic associations . these associations worked in narrow scales not exceeding their individuals' interests, and paying no attention to the national interests.
This research has an introduction and four chapters . The introduction has made" clear the reasons for choosing this matter of study the preview has focused on the competition between the British and German colonialism on East Africa. It consists of four chapters:
Chapter one treated the circumstances in which the Sultan Khalifa Bin Hareb Al Bousaiidy, came to power in Zanzibar, the second chapter is devoted to the discussion the developments brought about the British management of the Sultanate of Zanzibar. The third chapter focused on the growth of national consciousness in Zanzibar, after the Second World War, and the fourth chapter is to talk about the role in changing the course of events held in the Sultanate in the fifties. At the conclusion, the researcher briefly stated the most important findings, and the supplements were reported in the study, consisting of documents and photographs, followed by the inclusion of all sources and references that have been adopted in this study
