This study aims exploring of tenth grade female learners competency in knowing and applying the rules of the recitation through the answering of the following questions:
First question: To what extent do tenth grade female learners know the rules of the theoretical part, in general, and in every dimension of this study?
Second question: To what extent can tenth grade female learners apply the rules of reciting the Holy Quran verses that they have studied from sixth grade to ninth, while reciting in general, and in every dimensions of the present study?
Third question: Are there any statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) between the average performance of the female learners in the knowledge part and the average performance of female learners in the application part of the recitation rules that they have studied from sixth grade to ninth?
The population of this study consisted of tenth grade female learners in the government school in the Directorate of Education in Al-Dakhilya Region in the academic year(2007-2008). The study sample included(180) female learners.
To answer the above stated questions, the researcher used two tools. They are achievement test and application test. Their reliability and validity were verified. The main results of this study are:
* There are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) between the average performance of tenth grade female learners in comparison with the criterion(80%). In general, the average performance of female learners was(51.24%). Als, the female learners did not achieve the required level of competence in the knowledge part and in any dimension of this study.
* There are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) between the average of the application of the recitation rules by tenth grade female learners in comparison with the criterion (80%). The female learners achieve the required level of the study in four dimensions in the application part.
* There are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) between the average performance of tenth grade female learners of the recitation rules at the knowledge level and the average of their performance in the application level in favour of the application level.
In the light of the results of the study, the researcher suggested a number of recommendations. The most important of these recommendations are the following: Holding in-service courses and workshops, for teachers who are teaching in the practical and theoretical skills of recitation, that should be supervised by specialized and qualified people. Almost all teachers who are teaching should participate in these workshops.
