This study sought to define social welfare aspects provided to the national workforce in the private sector at Al-Rusail industrial area, identify their social needs, the adequacy of the provided social welfare services as compared to those needs from the perspective of workers, and to set a proposed role for social work profession in the field of workers' welfare in the private sector in Sultanate of Oman,
Based on a descriptive methodology, the researcher conducted the study to a stratified random sample consisting of (123) male and female Omani workers, and 4 experts in the private sector. The data collection tools included: a workers' questionnaire for workers, and interviews for experts. The study reached many results, the most important results were as follow the least services provided to Omani workers in the private sector found mainly were: free housing services, followed by free nutrition services, then transportation. Moreover, the most important needs of workers were: To increase incentives and rewards and taking social and family conditions into consideration. Regarding health services, workers demand to provide preventive tools such as gloves, and safety devices. Regarding cultural and educational needs, results indicated that there is a need to focus on raising awareness of workers regarding labor conditions and related Acts. On the other hand, the most important needs of workers regarding housing and transportation was to pay more attention for it and to raise the allowances for both. As regard to rehabilitation, guidance and training needs, workers' demands to provide them with a social worker who can provide them with guidance and help to solve their problems. Finally, and as regard to entertainment and recreation, workers demand to find suitable rooms for rest and lunch break in the company.
In the light of findings, recommendations and mechanisms were developed to meet workers' needs; a part of these recommendations were as follows: it is recommended to conduct in depth studies in the
Id of needs assessment of workers in the private sector which may contribute in defining difficulties and problems faced by workers, and to find out appropriate methods to solve them. In addition, it is recommended to encourage the local community and its institutions to reflect its social responsibility towards workers in the private sector through provided services and benefits to workers.
