Qur'an This study aims to determine the three pragmatic dimensions of the term or enunciate (Qul), which means (say) in English, in the Holy Qur'an by focusing on three areas: speech acts, intentionality and enunciation. Accordingly, it is divided into three chapters, each chapter contains two sections: theoretical and practical. The first chapter concentrates on speech acts in the Qur'an verses (ayas) which include the term (Qul). The second chapter discusses the intentionality in these verses whereas the third chapter handles enunciation and their components in specified verses.
The method used in the study is the pragmatic approach to analyze the enunciation of the Holy Qur'an in order to accomplish the objectives of the study. Hence, it mentions these verses in their contexts and then it extracts the speech acts, their intention, enunciation and the type of speech.
This study showed a number of results. The most significant result is that the Qur'ans enunciations, which include the term (Qul) have a number of speech acts which are: assertive, directive and argumentative which distinguish them from other Qur'an verses. Another result, is that there are purposes for using the term (Qul') in the Holy Qur'an rather than any other term. The most important one is the emphases of the humanity of the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) and that recipient of message from Allah. Finally, the speech which follows the use of the word (Qul) is put under focus in order to stress the importance at meaning of these words.
