The current study investigated the relation between Achievement Responsibility and Self Determination Motivation among foundation programme students. It also aimed at identifying the differences in achievement responsibility and the self determination motivation according to gender, level and college. The data were collected from 432 students (216 male, 216 female) through two questionnaires; the scale of the casual attribution for success and failure (Lefcurt, 1979) and the Mathematics Motivation Scale (Jalal, Alsawaie, Alsartawi, & Tibi, 2012). The results of the study showed that the students attributed their achievement to internal and unstable factors. Secondly, the students showed a quiet high level of self determination motivation. Thirdly, the results showed no differences according to
gender in both achievement responsibility and self determination motivation. As regards to achievement responsibility, there were statistically significant differences in external and unstable factors according to the level variable for the second and third level and differences in external, stable and unstable factors according to college favoring Middle East College. Regarding Self Determination Motivation, the results revealed statistically significant differences in external regulation and amotivation according to the level in favor for level two and three. The findings also suggested that the external factors seem to be the better predictor factors of Self Determination Motivation followed by the stable factors and finally the internal factors.
