The study aims to presenting a suggested proposal to develop strategic leadership practices in the Directorate Generals of Education in the Sultanate of Oman.
The sample of the study included 300 employees in the departments and sections of the Directorate Generals of Education in five governorates: Muscat, Dakhiliyah, Al Batina North, Al Burimi, and Dhofar.
The study based on a descriptive approach. A questionnaire developed by the researcher consisted of 60 items, divided into six dimensions that represent the study variables (determining strategic direction, exploiting and maintaining core competencies, developing human capital, sustaining an effective organizational culture, emphasizing ethical practices, and, establishing balanced organizational controls).
The findings of the study are as follows:
-The practices of strategic leadership in the Directorates General of Education in the Sultanate of Oman was at the average level in all dimensions in the study from participants' point of view.
- The study showed that the "emphasis on ethical practices" had the highest level among the six dimensions of the study.
-The study showed also that the "development of human capital" has received the lowest level among the six dimensions of the study.
The study concluded by presented a proposal for the development of the strategic leadership practices in the Directorate Generals of Education in the Sultanate of Oman.
