The present study aimed at identifying the training programmes presented to the social workers in the educational field and the extent to which these programmes are suitable to the needs of these workers. The study also aimed at finding out the role of these programmes in enhancing the professional competence of the social workers in addition to the identification of the difficulties and suggestions to develop those programmes. The present study is descriptive in which the researcher used a method of a comprehensive social survey administered to all social workers working in the education field in AL Batinah South region and whose number reached 128. A questionnaire was used to know the workers' trends regarding the variables of the study which are related to training programmes. The response rate was 78% and the main findings of the study were the following: -After participating in the training programmes, the social workers' perspective changes in a positive way in performing their duties. -The training programmes available to the social workers need to be developed in order to suit their professional requirements and needs. Based on the findings of the study, some suggestions were presented in order to develop the training programmes for the social workers and the most important of these suggestions were: -It is necessary that officials follow up the training programmes that are introduced to the social workers and develop these programmes so as to suit the professional practical needs. -It is essential to devise plans for training by involving the social workers in the process through the investigation of their training needs by having supervisory visits or administering questionnaires or group meetings.
