This study aimed to develop a scale for organizational loyalty for workers in Sultan Qaboos University and University of Nizwa. The sample of the study consisted of 303 workers (151 males and 152 females) who were selected using random sampling from Sultan Qaboos University and University of Nizwa. The scale consisted of 35 items representing six dimensions (loyalty to the organization, organizational culture, appreciation, material incentives, work stress and social relation). Psychometric properties of the scale were determined.
The approach that was followed in this study was a descriptive using appropriate statistical methods to answer the research questions like Cronbach alpha, Pearson correlation coefficient and confirmatory factor analysis. The validity of the Scale was ascertained using two methods: face validity and factorial validity. The results indicated acceptable validity. The reliability of the scale was measured using Cronbach alpha and test-retest methods. Cronbach alpha for the scale scores was found to be 0.90. Cronbach alpha of the six dimensions were between 0.69 and 0.85, with median 0.71. Also, the test re-test reliability coefficient of reconnaissance sample was found to be 0.90. The results were discussed in light of the theoretical framework and previous studies. Also a number of recommendations and suggestions were presented.
