This manuscript is on fasting written by a prominent scholar called Abi Nabhan who lived in the late twelve century and the beginning of thirteen century of Higra. He is considered as one of the renewal scholars who contributed scientifically in the area of knowledge in Oman. Many of his books are still in manuscripts forms waiting for the chance to be printed. One of these manuscripts is this book which originally questions and answers on fasting. More importantly, these questions were directed to the Sheikh about fasting and his answers came in long and informative clarifications. Over three hundred fasting issues extracted in the manuscript, the sheikh detailed the requested jurisprudence issues. The book covers several chapters starting with the definition of fasting linguistically and terminologically. Then the author moved to the parts and types of fasting. After that he paused at the rulings of fasting on the doubt day. Later, he talked about the Crescent, and concluded the book by talking about the means of seeking closeness to Allah through the voluntary fasting, and followed the conclusion finally with different issues related to fasting in general.
The thesis includes two parts. The first one is about this study, and detailed it in two chapters: the first chapter is about the biography of the author along with the political social and economic status at that time. In the second chapter, I talked about the jurisprudence methodology of Abi Nabhan, and then gave an adequate background of the manuscript. In the second part, I edited the manuscript in a contemporary and scientifically method. Lastly, I concluded the thesis with findings and recommendations. I ask Allah to accept this deed and grant us His satisfaction.
