This study aims to identify the reality of social media utilization among school principals in the Sultanate of Oman in terms of the types of social media most used, ways of using them and obstacles of employing these means to achieve the entrepreneurship work in schools.
The study adopted the descriptive approach; an interview tool was used and applied to a group of 24 principals. The data were analyzed using qualitative methods by analyzing respondents' responses and monitoring frequency of responses. The study showed that What's App is the most preferred mean of social communication to achieve the entrepreneurship work of school principals, Principals use social media in areas that support leadership work such as building a network of experts and specialists, exchanging experiences, obtaining financial and moral support and providing an attractive and effective environment for entrepreneurship work through dissemination and rapid communication with stakeholders. The study also found that there are some obstacles facing the use of social media, such as the absence of a full-time staff to communicate with users on social media and the slow Internet. The study recommended organizing annual competitions among schools on best practices related to entrepreneurship work using social media.
