This study aims at shedding more light on the remarkable and outstanding role of University of Nizwa for the development of the local community in the Sultanate of Oman and in an endeavor to achieve the purposes of this study, the researcher applied the descriptive methodology and developed a Questionnaire comprised of thirty eight (38) items distributed along five (5) elements and after verification of their significance, genuinity and stability, they were distributed to (301) members of the teaching staff and the Officers in charge at the University Students' Affairs Secretariat Centers. Total subjects in the study tool was 101, and 10 incomplete surveys were excluded.
The study has substantiated the fact that UNIZWA has played a deep rooted role in the development of the local community in the Sultanate of Oman based of the selected sample of the study with high assessment averages with regard to all five elements of the study as the general response average was estimated at 3.65 whereas the edification and enlightenment was top ranked at an average of 3.84, the element of Cooperation with the other Service Institutions came in the second place at average of 3.51, the Continuing Education came in the third place with an average of 3.48, whereas the two elements of Scientific Consultancies and the Applied Researches came in the fourth place with averages of 3.47.
The study has also indicated that there were statistically significant variances among the averages of the Questionnaire Elements at the function (0.05=a) according the Social Aspect Variable "SAV"designation, years of experience or place of work in all these elements.
This study arrived at various recommendations most importantly: taking interest in coherent and consistent scientific publications and releases attending to the communal issues and dilemmas, searching for finance resources to implement and increase the advanced training programs, strengthening channels for communication with the authorities and institutions concerned with the Family Counseling as the Ministry of Social Development and the Guidance and Counselling Centers at the government universities and colleges to exchange the counselling opinions and find solutions to the problems encountered by the Omani families in general and the university students in particular, exert more efforts to open these counselling centers in all governorates manned with professional cadres, nurture and spread the culture of education for all via widely opening new continuing education centers throughout the governorates of the sultanate of Oman manned with the professional training staff in an endeavor to help combat illiteracy, embrace the scientific creativity and innovations for both teaching staff and the university student as well, promote and support the same at all counselling, cognitive and financial levels and finally, to pay tribute to the well-done scientific publications that address the community issues and dilemmas.
