This study aimed to identify the nature of the relationship between the family upbringing methods and psychological adjustment, from the standpoint of the students of the general education diploma in South Batinah during the school year (2015/2016). The study sample consisted of 316 public education students from Musanaa, Barka, Wadi Al Maawel, 160 males and 156 females. Basic study sample was chosen in a random way. To achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher applied two measures: the first was family upbringing methods, and the second psychological adjustment scale for students. The study showed the following results:
- Parental acceptance is the most common method of family upbringing as realized by general education diploma students in South Batinah schools.
- Health and Family adjustment is the most common psychological adjustment method with the General Education Diploma studentsin South Batinah schools.
- There were statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) among the family upbringing methods of the General Education Diploma students in South Batinah schools attributable to variable ranking in the family.
- There were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) between the family upbringing methods of the General Education Diploma students in South Batinah schools attributable to the following variables: (gender - the educational level of the father – the educational level of the mother - the status of the parents – family income ).
- There were statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) in the psychological level of adjustment with the General Education Diploma students in South Batinah schools attributable to the social type variable in the family adjustment topic.
- There were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) in the psychological adjustment with the General Education Diploma students in South Batinah schools attributable to the social type variable in the following themes: (social harmony - health adjustment - emotional adjustment).
- There were statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.01) between the family upbringing methods as realized by General Education Diploma students in South Batinah schools, and their psychological adjustment.
- it is possible to predict the degree of contribute of the family upbringing methods to achieving psychological adjustment with the General Education Diploma students in South Batinah.
The Researcher recommended that it is necessary to guide and educate parents about the best methods of family upbringing, and the establishment of family guidance centers to provide educational, social and psychological services for students.
