This study aimed at identifying the relationship between self-efficacy and healthy behavior among a sample of the second stage of basic education students in the state of Sur. The researcher used the correlation descriptive approach in order to collect the study data. The researcher applied the study questionnaire to a sample of 340 male and female students from the ninth and tenth grades; 170 girls and 170 boys who were chosen randomly from 6 public schools within the state of Sur. In order to achieve the study objectives, the researcher used the scale of general self-efficacy, the scale of healthy feeding style, and the scale of healthy behavior after verifying the validity and reliability of these scales. In order to answer the study questions, the researcher used the means, the standard deviations, t-test as well as regression analysis. The results showed that the level of self-efficacy and the level of healthy feeding style, as well as the level of healthy behavior among the students was of a medium degree. The results showed that there are no statistically significant differences between the level of general self-efficacy among the students in study sample according to the variable of gender and that there are no statistically significant differences between the level of healthy feeding style among the students in the study sample attributed to the variable of gender. The results also showed that there are no statistically significant differences between the level of healthy behavior among the students in study sample according to the variable of gender. The results revealed that we can predict the importance of self-efficacy among the students regarding achieving the healthy behavior among them.
The study recommends about emphasizing the role of self-efficacy in improving the healthy behavior among the adolescents in particular, such as healthy feeding, practicing physical activity, ideal weight, as well as other healthy behaviors in order to identify the behaviors that are mostly affected by self-efficacy.
