English abstract
This study aimed to identify the Coping Strategies and work stress of Special Education and ordinary teachers in the Governorate of Muscat. It also aimed to measure those Coping Strategies used by teachers and their relations with some variables like gender and experience. The study sample consisted of (288 teachers: 88 ordinary teachers and 200 special education teachers) from local special education and ordinary schools in the Governorate of Muscat.
The scale of Coping Strategies has been designed to answer the question of this study. The study results showed that most of the work stress & coping strategies are being used by the special education & the ordinary teachers. Based on the results, the first top most common methods adopted by both type of teachers are the methods linked with "Cognitive Dealing Method", followed by "Behavioural Dealing Method" and lastly "Cognitive Avoidance Dealing Method". Results also revealed significant differences in the degree of usage of the above mentioned methods between the ordinary and the special education teachers which were in favour of the ordinary teachers. It also revealed that there were no statistical differences in the same methods between the special education teachers and the ordinary ones based on the variable of (Experience-type-social type).
Finally, results have been interpreted and recommendations have been stated accordingly.
