English abstract
This study aims to investigate the possibility of applying management by objectives in Oman's sport associations from the standpoint of their employees through the following four topics: determination of objectives, executives planning, control, follow up and implementation of the objectives and performance assessment. The study also aims to determine the differences in the estimates of specimen subjects amid a number of variations such as academic qualifications, experience years in sport field, and type of association. The study included 72 members of the boards of sport associations in Oman. The descriptive approach was used a questionnaire to collect data. In order to get accurate results, arithmetic means, standard deviations, and (T) Test for finding statistics differences. The results show that management by objectives can be easily applied in Oman's sport associations with a total arithmetic means of 4,28. In addition, the estimates in all topics of the study were high with arithmetic means of 4,39 in the identification of the objectives, 4,26 in executive planning, 4,27 in control, follow up and implementation of plans, 4,21 in performance assessment. There were no statistic differences in the study's variations of academic qualifications, years of experience in sport field and types of association. In light of the results, a number of recommendations were offered; the most important are the following: Sport associations' staff should be engaged in the identification of the objectives and the executive planning and encouraged to undertake self-assessment with the help of a detailed performance assessment system. The study suggests carrying out an experimental study of the model of management by objectives on a sport association and a survey on the possibility of applying it on Oman's sport clubs.
