English abstract
This study aimed to create a collective counseling program, and investigate its effectiveness in advancing traffic awareness among twelfth grade students (Post Elementary Education) in Muscat Governorate, Sultanate of Oman.
Twenty two students participated in this study, from those who hold a driver's license and received the lowest grades in the scale traffic awareness at Al-Hassan bin Hashim School for (Post Elementary Education) in Wilayat AL-Seeb.
They were randomly distributed into two groups: experimental and control group. The experimental group was subjected to a collective counseling program based on selective theory, while control group was not subjected to any treatment. The program consists of 15 sessions, applied via two sessions each week.
Both experimental and control group were applied to pre & post test and following-up of the measure scale of traffic awareness, which was planned by the researcher for the purposes of this study.
Test results "study of (Mann-Whitny U Test) revealed significance differences (a < 0.05)in traffic awareness among the experimental group and control group on the posttest measure and the measure of following up in favor of the experimental group and this was attributed to the collective counseling program which is applied in this study.
Test results "study of (Wilcoxon) revealed significance differences (a < 0.05) in traffic awareness among the experimental group in favor of posttest measure scale, as well as the study revealed the absence of significance differences (a < 0.05) in traffic awareness among the experimental group on the posttest measure and the measure of following up, which indicates to the durability of the effect of the used training program in this study, after a sufficient period from its expiration time.
