English abstract
This study aims to show the social, cultural and political role of Al Shaikh Sulaiman bin Nasser bin Sulaiman al-Lamki that he played in East Africa and Oman in (1278- 1862/1353-1935( The study is divided into: an introduction, preface, tree chapters and conclusion. The preface deals with the political configuration in East Africa including the Omani influence in Zanzibar and the European competition in East Africa:
The first chapter talks about the life of Al-Shaikh Sulaiman bin Nasser bin Sulaiman al-Lamki. The second chapter explores the political role that al-Shaikh Sulaiman played by his relations with Omani and Zanzibar rulers and with English and Germany people. The last chapter looks into the social role of al-Shaikh Sulaiman including his support for Omani and Zanzibar societies. Then, it explores his communications with al-Shaikh Sulaiman bin Basha al-Barony. The study relies on published and unpublished documents, sources and references relating to the period covered by the study. It also followed the analytical descriptive method to study the historical facts and to reach the essence of historical events relevant to the study's subject. On the basis of the results of this study, it can be concluded that the nature of life al-Shaikh Sulaiman had, formed his personality. Additionally, she was respected by Omani people.
