English abstract
This study intends to identify the skills needed for the utilization of educational researches in the administrative practices and investigates if principals and assistant principals of public schools in Oman have such skills. To realize the aim of this study, a list of required skills of utilizing the educational researches in the administrative practices has been identified and organized into three main skills: first, acquiring the educational researches; second, understanding and criticizing educational researchers; and third, utilizing findings of the researches. The main skills are composed of 21 sub skills. A descriptive analysis is used to conduct this study. The sample of the study consisted of (227) of the principals and assistant principals randomly selected from six different educational governorates, namely: Al Batnah South, Al Dakhlia, Al Batnah North, Al Dhahra, Dhofar, and Muscat. The main findings of this study can be summarized as follows: a. Principals and assistant principals lack the skills of utilizing the educational researches in the administrative practices, besides the unavailability of the first major skill "Acquiring the educational researches" and the second skill "Understanding educational researches and criticizing it where as the third skill "Utilizing the finding of the researches" is available. b. There are statistical difference at the level of (a < 0.05) on the availability of skills of utilizing the educational researches in the administrative practice due to the academic qualification variable for the master degree of post graduate diploma holders. c. There are no statistical difference at the level of (a <0.05) on the availability of skills of utilizing the educational researches in the administrative practice due to the training courses in the field of educational researches. A number of suggestions and procedures were made in order to develop and enhance the skills of school principals and assistant principals, and to encourage them to consider and apply findings of educational researches in their administrative practice.
