English abstract
This study aims to identify the problems faced by the females residents in the Sultan Qaboos University hostels. It also intends to know the causes of these problems and to investigate the actual role of the female social workers in helping female students to encounter those problems and suggest suitable suggestions for facing female students residents in the SQU hostels. The current study is considered as a descriptive study, depends on a Social survey. The sample of the study includes (20) female social specialists who have pociology and the social work qualifications, and the actual sample includes (149) female students selected from Sultan Qaboos University hostels. The researcher used the statistical Package for the social science (SPSS) to analyze data, frequency ratio, percentage, standard deviations and correlations were used as statistical means to obtain where the following results obtained. Study Findings:
1. From female students point of views, the problems that widely distributed among female students residing in the SQU hostels were ranked as the following: academic problems, psychological problems, abnormal behavior problems, and the last one is the social problems, while from the social specialists' perspective the problems were ranking as the following: social problems, psychological problems, abnormal behaviors problems and finally
the academic problems.
2.Various reasons lead to the problems faced by the females residents in the Sultan Qaboos University hostels such as: academic problems, problems related to hostels and the supervision , family factors, factors related to deanship of students and affairs, some of these problems are because of the social specialists.
3. Female social workers agree that there is a real need to give them more righteousness that enables them to deal with these problems. The researcher concludes her study with some suggestions and recommendations
