English abstract
This study aimed to exploring how far do the administrations of Institutes of Islamic Sciences in Oman apply the strategic planning. Also, it tried to figure out the differences in the averages of the responses of the study sample according to the variable-year career experience and qualifications.
The study is based on the descriptive method. It is conducted through a questionnaire which includes 66 items covering seven areas: creating good environment for strategic planning in the institute, future vision , the institute's message, the values, the environment analysis, strategic objectives and the executive plan. The questionnaires is applied to all members of the study sample which includes 91 teachers. However, only 77 questionnaires were responded to and all of them are used in the data analysis.
After the data analysis using SPSS, the study has shown that the practicing of strategic planning by the administrations of Institutes of Islamic Sciences is average. Also it has found out that there are statistically significant differences at (a s 0.05 ) level between the responses of the participants sample which is related to the variable of experience in the first field " creating good environment for strategic planning in the institute". Therefore, these distinctions come in favor of the medium-class experience. According to the responses of the participants, the results of the show that there are statistically significant differences at (a < 0.05) level which are attributable to the qualification variable in the third field " the institute's message". Also, the differences are attributable to the forth field which is about " the values". However, all these distinctions come in favor of those participants who have master degree.
According to the findings of the study results, the researcher end up with several recommendations. The most important ones are:
- To found a department which specializes in planning and determine its current and future needs. Beside, this department should be part of the Department of Academic Affairs and Training Administration which is in charge of direct supervision on Institutes of Islamic Sciences.
- To develop a comprehensive strategic plan for Institutes of Islamic Sciences with clear visions through which the objectives that this Institutes is built on can be achieved.
- To raise the awareness of strategic planning among the employees specifically in the Inistitutes of Islamic Siences and among those who work in Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Sciences in general.
