English abstract
The main purpose of the current study is to identify Islamic values that should be included in the tenth and eleventh grades classes of the general education Arabic Textbook of Reading and Selected Text. In order to achieve this purpose, the researcher has acknowledge and reviewed many relevant studies and sources of educational literature to design a list of the Islamic values that should be included in those textbooks. Throughout these studies, a list of Islamic values have been drawn out and submitted to a number of refrees in order to establish its validity. Afterward, the researcher has transformed that list into a content analysis. The unit of analysis is the paragraph while the analysis sample is the Islamic values that categorised in values feilds The reliability of the study was calculated by Holisty coefficient which gives values The researcher seeks support from another two analyests besides the researcher in order to analyse a randam sample of (15) topices and agreement between the three analyests has reached(94%).
Tool that was used to analyze the content of the topics of those textbooks includes 69 topics in both clasess.. The study has reached the following findings; Firstly, the Islamic values list designed for the purpose of the study comprised (88) values distributed into four values aspects; monotheism and worship, the universe, man, and life. Secondly, most values were presented in relatively low degrees in almost all topics. Thirdly, as for the value aspects in the data analyzed, the life dimension has got the first rank (Mean = 0.80) and the monotheism and worship dimension got the last rank (Mean=0.46). A number of recommendations were suggested in the light of those findings: one of them is a need to cultivate values included in those textbooks by making use of the list of values designed for the purpose of the present study. Also, a need to specify clearly the Islamic values that should be acquired by the students textbooks of the two classes and in teacher guides so that teachers may not overlook them. Recommendations for further researcher were also made.
