English abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using virtual reality (Mozaik 3D) on development the achievement and visual thinking skills among the 10th grade. The study sample consisted of (50) female students in grade ten at basic education from Omamah bint Abi Alaas (10-12) school in Muscat. They were divided into two groups, experimental group consisted of (27) students and control group of (23) students.
The researcher used the experimental method based on semi-experimental design of unequal control group. The tools of the study were: achievement test and test in visual thinking skills in the second unit of the book of social studies for the tenth grade "External factors that contribute to the formation of the surface of the earth". The validity of these tools was produced by (16) referees and the stability of this tools was examined by using the Alpha-Cronbach method which was (0.77) for the achievement test and (0.84) for the visual thinking skills test.
The results of the study showed that there was a statistically significant difference at the level of (a < 0.05) between the means of the experimental and control groups in the post-application in both the achievement test and the visual thinking skills test in favor to experimental group.
In light of the previous results, the study recommended to benefit from (Mozaik 3D) software and other virtual reality software and applications in the teaching of social studies.
