English abstract
This study aimed at evaluating the social studies curriculum in the 2nd cycle of Basic Education from the point of view of supervisors and senior teachers in light of quality standards. The sample of the study consisted of (31) male and female supervisors and (119) male and female senior teachers involved in 2nd Cycle of Basic Education schools in the following educational regions: Muscat, Batinah- South, Batinah- North and Dakhelia. The researcher used the questionnaire as data- gathering tool which was consisted of five components ( the educational objectives, the learning content, methods of learning, evaluation). This tool has also included about (20) standards and (75) indicators. The reliability of the tool has been confirmed by cronbach's alpha which was (0.97). The arithmetic mean and standard deviation have been found as well as T- test was applied for tow separate groups which represented the job variable (supervisor/senior teacher) & the specialization variable (History/ Geography). The study has come up with the following results:
. All quality standards are included with medium degrees in the social studies curriculum taught in the 2nd cycle of Basic Education.
• There are statistical differences of significance in terms of the availability of three standards that are referred to the job variable,
• There are no significant statistical differences in terms of the availability of quality standards that are referred to the specialization variable.
• In view of study results, the researcher introduced a number of recommendations and proposals for action and research.
