English abstract
This study aims to find out the reality of how do the heads of household who works in the public sector, and live in the state of AL Seeb manage their family budget in the context of the contemporary life requirements. Through knowing the level of awareness of the heads of the families about the importance of preparing the family budget, and how to balance between their income and their expenses. Moreover to stand on the most significant factors affecting consumption expenditure and the difficulties that could face them. In order to promote a culture of planning the family budget, and drew the attention of the concerned authorities to this issue in order to develop awareness programs to promote the ideas of rationalizing the consumption behavior and saving.
The researcher adopted the descriptive approach, since the study Combines between quantitative and qualitative methods and used the questionnaire as a tool to collect the data. The total size of the sample is (181) of the heads of the families working in the public sector and live in the state of AL Seeb. This study ended with a set of results we can mention the most important as follows: Most of the respondents were satisfied about the way they manage their income and expenses of their families, and they see that their monthly income is enough to meet the needs and expenses of their families. The majority of the respondents are saving what is left of their income, using modern savings channels.
In addition the study revealed that most respondents spend their income on food and pay off the debt, and they also spend a lot of money on means of communication and the Internet, transport and education. The results also show that there is a variety of factors agreed upon by most respondents as affecting their consumption expenditure, notably: taking the children in shopping trips, and bank facilities such as consumption loans and credit cards, the place where the family lives imposes a certain level of consumption pattern, some customs and traditions associated with certain social events strain the family budget. As it turns out that most of the respondents aware of the importance of developing a budget for the family, but there are some obstacles that may face them, such as the need of the family budget management for advanced study and training which may not be available for them. This may be due to the lack of knowledge, or the existence of lectures and courses competent to manage the family budget. They also do not have the support of those who are around them in terms to understand and encourage each other about family budget management.
