English abstract
The study aims at identifying the Self-Harm Motives and its Relation to Psychological Security for a Sample of Inmates of the Reform and Rehabilitation Centers in Central Prison of Oman in Samail, and recognizing the differences of self-harm and self-security according to the variables of educational attainment and term of imprisonment. The study sample is composed of (71) inmates chosen through convenience sampling. Self-Harm measure is (Al-Momni & Shawashra, 2013), and Psychological Security Measure (Maslow, 1977), translated into Arabic by Hafez & Mahmoud (1990).
- The study has come to the following conclusions:
- The Self-Harm Motives for the inmates of the Reform and Rehabilitation Centers in Central Prison of Oman have attained repetitions and high percentages in the four dimensions.
- Psychological security for inmates of the Reform and Rehabilitation Centers in Central Prison of Oman has attained a medium level.
- There are no statistically significant differences at the significance level
(α ≤ 0.05) for inmates of the Reform and Rehabilitation Centers according to the variables of the imprisonment term and educational attainment.
