English abstract
This study aims to approach Ibn 'Arabi's creative world through his divan titled Tarjuman al-ashwaq ("The Interpreter of Yearnings"); the study deals with the phonetic, semantic, and structural levels as well as the poetic image in this divan. The analysis is based on the stylistic approach, both descriptively and statistically, in order to reach the distinctive features of Ibn 'Arabi's employment of these three levels in his poetic experiment under discussion. The First Chapter has two themes: external and internal rhythm. Under the external rhythm we have studied meter in order to explain the common measures Ibn 'Arabi used and the dominant topics he handled. We have ordered these meters, shown the types of rhyme and the important rhyming letters and their order according to usage. The Second Chapter deals with the semantic level; we have studied the functions in this divan and divided them into semantic fields in order to reach the most important functions. The Third Chapter handles the structural level as well as the poetic image. It has two themes: the first is dedicated to the sentences used in the divan, their types and images; then we have studied the phenomena and styles used by the poet and
this showed us the richness of the poetic experiment under study. The second theme deals with the poetic image in terms of its source and its rhetorical forms, such as simile, metaphor, and metonymy.
