This study aimed at identifying the content of the programs broadcasted at the Oman Radio from Muscat, during the period from 1970-1979 the first decade after being launched.
This study is a descriptive in which the researcher analyzed and described the contents of all the programs that were selected in a randomly simple manner, by identifying program's subjects, periodic and air timings, programs functions and other variables.
The study concluded with some findings, most importantly: Oman Radio from Muscat has started earlier than the official announcement. The archive available does not match with what have been actually broadcasted. There were no programs available at the first three years, and the existing programs vary greatly from a year to another. The results showed that almost half of the programs were cultural, while political, economic, health, sports and education programs were not obtainable due to lack archived. In addition, the programs that presented by male and female together came at the first level. About half of the programs used "education and spreading awareness" as a foremost function. The classical Arabic prevailed have been used in most programs, while colloquialism used in a very low level.
