English abstract
The study aimed at identifying the relationship between the practice of the servant leadership and achieving the organizational commitment of the teachers of the basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman. It has also sought to achieve a set of objectives to identify the extent to which basic education schools address the dimensions of servant leadership and the differences in the practice of these schools. It aims further at identifying the significant differences between the level of leadership in the response to the variables (gender, qualification, educational stage, years of experience, governorate) and the level of organizational commitment of teachers in basic education schools.
To achieve the objectives of the study, the study relied on the descriptive approach, as well as the method of field study using questionnaire as the main tool for collecting the basic data of the study, which included five dimensions of servant leadership (altruism, modesty, attention to teacher development, emotional healing, commitment to community development), and three demensions of organizational commitment (Normative, Emotional and Continuing). It was applied to a sample of (1094) teachers in basic education schools.
The data has been statistically managed through SPSS. Findings of the study showed that the estimations of study sample individuals on the reality of servant leadership are "large". Also, the estimates of the sample members of the study on the reality of the organizational commitment in general came to a "large" degree.
Also it showed that there is proportional positive correlation between practicing servant leadership and organizational commitments, higher degree of practicing servant leadership leads to higher level of organizational commitment among workers.
The study most important recommendation was the execution of training programs for headmasters to develop their skills and knowledge about servant leadership, and to improve their knowledge about its benefits and impact on both the schools and the teachers. Also to enhance the culture of organizational commitment and loyalty to work, which increase the credence of the schools employees through seminars and workshops so that its main focus is to promote the positive practices of teachers.
