English abstract
The study aims to clarify the land?s ownership system in Oman from its introduction to Islam until the end of the sixth century AH, by knowing the nature of and the developments occurred to land?s ownership in Oman, in addition to highlighting the political, social and economic dimensions related to land during the period of study.
In addition, the study also aims to introduce agricultural activity in Oman and its relationship to land?s ownership. The researcher adopted the historical descriptive approach, by studying and extrapolating jurisprudential sources and historical texts, in addition to extracting and analyzing jurisprudential rulings and fatwas related to land?s ownership, as well as the associated activities.
The study consists of an Introduction, Three Chapters, and a Conclusion. The First Chapter discusses the evolution of land?s ownership in Oman. The Second Chapter reviews the political, economic and social transformations and their effects on possession of land by highlighting the link between ownership of land in Oman with political issues, economic activity, and the role of social groups in addition to their link with land ownership. The Third Chapter deals with land ownership in Oman and its relationship to agricultural activity, in terms of land classification in Oman, methods of exploitation, investment and disposal of land, in addition to patterns of agricultural production. The study concluded some results, which are embedded in the Conclusion, most notably: The political situation in Oman had played an important role in determining the nature of land?s ownership before and after Islam. The study showed the multiplicity of land?s ownership, its types, uses, methods of its exploitation and investment.
