This study aims to evaluate the model lessons which are implemented by the social studies supervisors from teachers' and supervisors point view as well as examining the effect of different variables including gender, career, years of experience, number of model lessons and the educational governorates.
In order to o achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the mixed approach by preparing two study tools (A questionnaire and an interview). The questionnaire consisted of (66) statements distributed over three areas: preparing and planning of model lessons, the effect of applying model lessons, the challenges and difficulties. The interview included the same dimensions of the questionnaire. After testing the reliability and stability of the two tools, the questionnaire was applied to a sample of (230) teachers and (40) supervisors. The interview was applied to (10) educational supervisors and (6) teachers of the social study subject in the governorates of Muscat, AL Dakhliya and Al Batinah North.
The results revealed that the assessment of teachers and supervisors regarding planning and preparing of the model lessons was "often". Their assessment of the effect of applying model lessons' was big great. On the other hand, their assessment for the model lesson difficulties was average. The effect of the gender variable with/in the teachers is only for the benefit of a female in the item of preparing and planning model lessons'. The study's result also revealed that there are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (a=0.05) which related to career variable between teachers and supervisors in all sections/items. Furthermore, there is not statistically significant for all section at the level (a=0.05) which is related to years of experience variable, except section/item three difficulties of model lesson' with supervisors for the benefit of the category (6-10)years.
Moreover, the study revealed that there are no statistically significant differences at the level of (a=0.05), which is associated with number of model lessons in all study topics and no differences linked to governorate variable with teachers and supervisors in all study section except the difficulties of model lesson item.
