English abstract
The study aimed to reveal the relationship between the level of Obsessive- Compulsive disorder and Social Anxiety in the light of during the spread of the Covide-19 pandemic among students of Nizwa University, and it also aimed to highlight the differences according to gender and age. The study sample consisted of (305) students responding by e-mails. To achieve the objectives of the study, the relational descriptive approach was used, and two scales were applied: the Arab OCD scale prepared by Abd al-Khaleq (1992), modified and standardized in the Omani environment, Ibrahim and Al-Fazari (2015) and the Social Anxiety scale Radwan (2001).The results of the study showed an average level of Obsessive- Compulsive disorder among students at the University of Nizwa, and a medium level of Social Anxiety, and there was a statistically significant correlation between Obsessive- Compulsive and Social Anxiety among the study sample. The study also showed that there are differences in the level of Obsessive-compulsive disorder (compulsive preoccupation, compulsive control, order and accuracy) according to the gender variable in favor of females, and statistically significant differences in the level of Obsessive-Compulsive disorder according to the age variable (compulsive preoccupation, compulsive control, order and accuracy) for the benefit of students belonging to the age group (18-21). In addition, the study revealed significant differences in the level of Social Anxiety according to the gender variable in all factors of the Social Anxiety scale in favor of females, and there were statistically significant differences in the level of Social Anxiety in the factor (lack of self-confidence) according to the age variable for the benefit of students belonging to the age group (22-29).
