The study aims to identify the most prevalent psychological problems among adolescents deprived of family care at the Child Care Center, Muscat Governorate. The study sample included (54) male and female adolescents who are deprived of family care, aged between 15 and 21. The study tools included the Psychiatric Problems Scale by Al-Daya (2016), Self-Esteem Scale by Rosenberg (1979) as translated by Abu-Asad (2014). The researcher followed the descriptive correlational approach as the most suitable research methodology for this study which requires understanding of the phenomenon as is in real life. The results of the study found that (selfishness) is the most prevalent psychological problem among adolescents deprived of family care, ranking first with the highest arithmetic average at (2.01), with females scoring higher levels than males. and in second came (aggressiveness) with an arithmetic average of (1.78). (Anxiety) ranked third with an arithmetic average of (1.76), The overall rate of the psychiatric problems scale in adolescents was medium with an arithmetic average of (1.81) and with a standard deviation of (1.31).
The results also showed that the self-esteem among respondents was average with no statistically significant differences between females and males due to the small size of the sample, similar living conditions in the same closed community, and similarities in the services, care and attention received at the center. Thus, the study has shown statistically significant differences with an average rate of psychological problems and self-esteem in adolescents deprived of family care at the Child Care Center.
