English abstract
This study aimed to find out the level of career awareness among the grade 12 pupils and their fathers in Oman and had a comparison between them in the light of some variables (father's level of education, family income, and father's age). The sample of the study consisted of 312 grade 12 pupils, 152 males and 160 females. The sample also consisted of 312 fathers of the pupils. For the purpose of this study, a scale was designed to find out the career awareness for both pupils and their fathers. This scale consisted of 47 items divided into six fields which are: field of career guidance activities, field of attitudes towards work, field of career attitudes and abilities, field of career decision making, field of career concern, and field of career planning field. The reliability and the validity of this scale was checked and approved. The findings of this study revealed that the level of career awareness in general was higher than the educationally accepted mean of the level of career awareness among the pupils and their fathers. Also, it revealed that the levels of different fields (the six fields) of career awareness for grade 12 pupils and the fathers were higher than the educationally accepted mean. In addition, there were statistical significant differences in the career awareness level for the pupils and the fathers in general in favor of grade 12 pupils.
