English abstract
The purpose of this study was to know the attitude's levels towards vocational
teaching and and its relationship with vocational interests and awareness for grade 10
students in Sultanate of Oman. The sample consists of 780 students, (393) males and
(387) females from grade 10 (basic and general) in government schools that follow to
the Ministry of Education in North Al-Bettina Region.
To answer questions of this study, the researcher developed three measures:
The first one is to measure attitudes towards vocational teaching. The second one is to
measure vocational awareness, and the third one is to measure vocational interests.
The face validity of the three measures has been asserted by 14 expert judges in
educational psychology and methods of teaching. The reliability of the three measures
has been tested through internal consistercg by using Alfa Cronbach which showed
high coefficierts for the three measures, that is (0.825), (0.882) and (0,888) successively.
To answer the study questions, the researcher computed the standard deviations
means, Pearson correlation coefficients and T-test to compare between males and
females. The study findings are: Grade 10 students' attitudes towards vocational
teaching are slightly positive also, there is a significant correlation at (0.01) level between attitudes toward vocational teaching and awareness, also there is a
significant correlation at (0.01) level between attitudes toward vocational teaching
and interests, and there is no significant difference between male and female students'
attitudes toward vocational interests.
