English abstract
I conducted the study within three chapters. In the first chapter, I talked about the political and social environment that was dominating over in the time of Al-Mutallames. Then, I introduced a bibliography of the poet; mentioning his name, his surname, his descent, and his tribe. In addition, I talked about his Poetical Divan and the opinions of the critics about it. All of the critics assured the high quality of his poetry as well as its high rank. Moreover, I appended some of Al- Mutallames' poetry which I found not listed in his poetry volume, giving it the title " Missed from the Divan" which in number are six verse lines.
The second chapter was dedicated to the themes of his poetry. The most obvious theme was the rebellion against the kings because of their imposed injustice upon the poet and his tribe. Al-Mutallames was assiduous to summon his tribe to get rid of the King's cruelty and to revolt against him. Then, I mentioned the issue of satire in his poetry. The poet used satire because of his exposure to the King's injustice. He satirized the King Amr bin Hind by expounding his moral and physical defects. After that, I talked about Al-Mutallames' wisdom. The critics considered him one of the wise poets because he paid a lot of attention to wisdom in his poetry. In fact, some of his verses became well known proverbs. I ended the chapter by talking about the issue of praise in his poetry though it was little.
However, the third chapter was dedicated to the technical aspect. The chapter was divided into five sections. In the first section, I talked about Al Mutallames' techniques in constructing his poems. I talked about the length and shortness of his poems; how could that be related to his poetical experience. In addition, I talked about the talent and craftsmanship, the purpose and the subject. I concluded that his long poems were similar to the ancient classical Arabic poems (poems before Islam). Thus, some of those verses were admixed with confusion, some of them had metathesis, and some other verses had lost parts of lines which

weakened our ability to issue more precise judgments about Al- Mutallames' poems construction.
The second section was about the poetical images and the effect of the environment on creating his poetical images. I noticed that many of his poetical images were colourd by historical stories, irony or by expressions used contradiction. Some of his poetical images were full of exaggeration and extravagance.
However, the third section was about Al Mutallames' poetical music. I showed the meters he used and the most dominating ones as well as the common rhymes in his poetry. I noticed that the poet was interested in some certain letters which he used repeatedly.
The forth section was about the language of Al Mutallames. I cleared out some of language features which dominated his poetry like the feature of repetition and the use of foreign vocabularies. I concluded that there were clear features helped in building up his poetical sentences like conditional phrases, metathesis and I ended up with his use of denotation and connotation.
Finally, I finished this chapter with a textual study of one of the famous poems of his poetry divan.
