English abstract
The current study aimed to study the relationship between psychological burnout and
the organizational and ethical climate among Omani nurses working in civil health
institutions in Sultanate of Oman. The study used the correlative descriptive method. In
fact, the study sample consisted of 380 male and female nurses, including 48 males and
332 females. Different scales were used in the study including: the burnout scale
prepared by Christina Maslach (Maslach,1982), the moral climate scale prepared by
Victor and Colin (Victor & Cullen, 1988), and the organizational climate scale for
Melhem and Asita (Milhem & Istaiteyeh, 2015). Which was originally taken from the
Beira and Garcia (Berra & Garcia, 2003) study. Then, the two researchers modified and
developed the study in line with the objectives of their research. The results of the study
indicated that the level of psychological burnout among the study sample appeared
moderately. The quality of the organizational climate was shown to be high. As for the
moral climate, its quality was shown to be high as well. The results of the study also
indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the level of psychological
burnout due to the marital status and the department variables. Whereas, the results
indicated that there were no statistically significant differences due to the marital status
variable and the department. While the results indicated that there were no statistically
significant differences in the level of psychological burnout due to gender and years of
experience. In addition, the results of the study indicated the possibility of predicting
psychological burnout through the organizational climate of the institution. The study
came out with a number of recommendations and suggestions in the light of the study
results.
