English abstract
The current study aimed to explore the levels of Quality of Life (QoL), used coping
strategies, and identify the ability of used coping strategies to predict the level of QoL for students
of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). The study included (319) male and female students from
different academic disciplines at SQU. The QoL scale (Mansi & Kazem, 2006) and the Coping
Strategies Inventory- short form (Tobin, 2001) were used to measure the levels of QoL and coping
strategies after finding a new psychometric property. The researcher applied the study's
instruments through an electronic questionnaire via the students' formal academic university email
during the period between (20\2\2022 - 13\3\2022).
The results revealed a mid-level of QoL and mid-use of coping strategies in sub-score and
total score, there were no statistical differences in coping strategies and QoL according to students'
gender and academic discipline variables. The results showed that approximability of 43% of the
covariance of the QoL was related to applied coping strategies by the students. The study
recommended the necessity of designing and applying the counseling interventions for enhancing
the coping skills of the university students to enhance their QoL.
