English abstract
Soft power is a term that appears frequently and is widely used with regard to
the awareness of cultural heritage's political dimension and its importance in
shaping modern nation-state identity. From this point, the Parade of the Royal
Mummies (The Golden Parade) shows how Egypt transferred twenty- two royal
mummies from the Egyptian Museum in El-Tahrir square to the National
Museum of Civilization in El-Fustat in a large military march. This also can
explain how Egypt plans to revive its ancient civilization by using all possible
means to express the Egyptian identity. They did that in order to preserve the
heritage of their great ancestors who achieved supremacy for Egypt in the ancient
world. So, when Egypt decided to transfer the twenty two mummies, this
transfer should have been carried out in a manner that would suit them, their
history, and the achievements they have achieved not only in the ancient times
but for all Egyptians today.
It is notable that the Soft Power has played the most important and largest role
in achieving the desired goals of this Parade. Egypt proved to the whole world
how we respect our civilization and our ancestors. Also, it emphasized the
cultural and historical role of Egypt in preserving the history, the civilization and
the heritage, as it is a property of all mankind. Besides, it gave a safety message
to the whole world, and a confirmation that Egypt is safe for tourism. Finally, it
announced the opening of the first national museum for civilization in Egypt in
collaboration with UNESCO. To sum it up, all of these goals were achieved by
using the soft power.
