English abstract
In recent years, scientific research has received the attention of many countries in the world, which have established special bodies or ministries to support and develop it, after it was a monopoly on developed countries. From this standpoint, universities and other institutions concerned with research and higher education have become obligated to develop the services they provide to society in the areas of education, training and spreading awareness of knowledge, based on advanced systems of the pillars and components of scientific research. Despite all this, there are many complaints and dissatisfaction by researchers about the low level of scientific research in our Arab societies. Sultan Qaboos University is considered the leading institution in the Sultanate to serve higher education and scientific research. More than a quarter of a century has passed since its establishment, during which the country witnessed many scientific achievements, most notably the establishment of the Scientific Research Council in 2005 according to Royal Decree No. 54/2005 to provide all available means Material and moral, to provide the country with serious scientific achievements in various aspects of life. Despite the development and modernization that Sultan Qaboos University has witnessed since its inception, the complaint about the low level of scientific research in it is still the talk of specialists, including academics, professionals and others. Perhaps this issue is more evident for those affiliated with the faculties of humanities due to the lack of funding and the limited ability to obtain external support for their research projects. Thus, we see that there is an urgent need to investigate the challenges that these colleges face in their endeavor to develop scientific research and limit the ability of their members to provide the community with serious research that can contribute to its development and solve its problems.
