Islamic Shariaa was distinguished by its civilizational precedence in the field of charitable work, with what it embodied in its characteristics of calling to goodness, urging to feel the need of people, and meeting the demands of community members, as they are one body, who feels the pain of any member in it and feels its joy, and since charity is one of the most important aspects of social solidarity, which in its general concept, is not limited to the obligatory Zakat, but goes beyond it to include all areas of public benefit for all human beings, as well as other creatures. Waqf is one of the most important elements of this charity, with what it achieves in terms of cooperation and solidarity. It covers an important aspect of social life and contributes to filling an important gap in the needs of human societies. The role of endowment banks is an evident to contributing socially to scientific and cultural development, and activating many social activities, starting from performing various acts of worship by building mosques, to spreading knowledge and establishing research centers, in addition to taking care for the sick and people with special needs as well as the elderly and the powerless, facilitating marriage to grooms, relieving the insolvent, and seeking water for the benefit of all kind of creatures, and many different ways that were detailed in this research, and which pervades the areas of social solidarity. Islamic history is full of bright and honorable examples, which I quoted a number of them in establishing the endowment and activating its benefits throughout the ancient era, in a way that provides a bright image of Islam, and to its Messenger and his message as a constructive, civilized religion, unlike how the malevolent denounce it with what they intend to hate towards it.
