English abstract
The study titled "Psychosocial Needs and Their Relation to Achievement Motivation
Among Students at A'Sharqiyah University" is in-depth research aimed at understanding
how psychosocial needs influence achievement motivation among university students. The
study highlights that university students are undergoing a critical phase of their lives where
psychosocial needs are fundamental factors affecting their ability to achieve academic and
personal goals. Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, the study illustrates how
satisfying these needs can enhance students' motivation to achieve. It found a significant and
positive relationship between the level of satisfaction of psychosocial needs and the level of
achievement motivation, indicating that students whose needs are better-met exhibit higher
motivation for achievement. The study also examined the impact of variables such as gender,
college, and academic programs on psychosocial needs and achievement motivation. It
found no statistically significant differences attributable to these variables in the level of
achievement motivation, suggesting that psychosocial needs equally affect all students
regardless of these differences. The study concludes with several recommendations aimed
at enhancing the supportive environment for students at the university. It suggests
developing counseling and educational programs focused on effectively meeting
psychosocial needs, along with initiating programs that bolster achievement motivation and
encourage students to engage in activities that help them harness their capabilities and
achieve academic and personal excellence. The researcher hopes that this study will
contribute to the knowledge on how to support students psychologically and socially to
achieve the best outcomes in their academic and professional lives.
