English abstract
The current study aimed to know the degree to which principals of basic education schools in the Al-Wusta Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman practice strategic planning, and to reveal the degree to which school principals practice crisis management methods, and the relationship between them. To achieve the objectives, the descriptive, correlational approach was used, and the questionnaire method was used as a tool for the study to collect data and information. The study sample consisted of (300) male and female teachers in the Al Wusta Governorate who were randomly selected. The study concluded that the degree to which principals of basic education schools in the Al Wusta Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman practiced strategic planning from the point of view of teachers was at a high level with an arithmetic average of (3.42). and a standard deviation of (0.16); The highest performance score for school principals was “internal orientation,” followed by “resources,” where the arithmetic mean reached (3.93) and a standard deviation of (0.35), then “external orientation,” where the average reached (2.96) and a standard deviation of (0.35). The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) between the average teachers’ estimates of the degree of performance of principals of basic education schools in Al Wusta Governorate in the field of strategic planning. According to the variables of gender and years of experience, while there were differences in the academic qualification variable in three dimensions (the resources dimension, the internal orientation dimension, and the external orientation dimension), and it came in favor of the master’s degree category and above. The results also indicated that the degree to which principals of basic education schools in Al-Wusta Governorate practiced crisis management from the point of view of teachers was high, with a mean of (3.5) and a standard deviation of (0.19). The highest level of manager performance in crisis management was in “containment” with a mean (3.79) and standard deviation (0.23), followed by “escape” with a mean (3.43) and standard deviation (0.29), then “confrontation” with a mean (3.27) and standard deviation ( 0.25), and the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) between the average teachers’ estimates of the degree of practice of principals of basic education schools in Al-Wusta Governorate in the field of crisis management; According to the variables of gender and years of experience, while there are differences in the variable of academic qualification in the field of crisis management in favor of the master’s degree category and above. The results showed that there is a statistically significant positive correlation (α≤0.01) between the degree of practicing strategic planning and the degree of practicing crisis management methods among principals of basic education schools in Al-Wusta Governorate from the point of view of teachers. School principals should be trained to set goals and how to evaluate them, and give specific time frames for achievement to enhance management of planning and organization.
