English abstract
The purpose of this research is to present the Royal Oman Police’s genuine use of security information in the fight against cybercrimes (challenges and solutions). The researcher used a descriptive approach to collect data via questionnaires and inter views in order to meet the study’s purpose. Along with Omani citizens, the research population included ROP employees, as well as employees of the government and remembers of the sample—both workers and 88. vate media in the Saltunate of Oman non-workers completed the questionnaires. Six officials from the Sultanate of Oman’s Ministry of Information—including those from the Directorate of Relations and Security Information, the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation, and private .and governmental media entities were interviewed.
The key findings of the research included improving security awareness techniques is essential to creating creative and useful solutions to social problems, remembering to engage experts from security divisions and monitor how criminal tactics are evolving. Additionally, attempting to set up adequate future plans to address it. Since social media is the new media’s main source of security awareness for the public, some policies need to be revised in order to strengthen the message of information security, fulfill community needs, and involve the public in working with financial institutions to combat cybercrimes. In addition, the ROP is keen to utilize modern technologies to combat and raise awareness about cybercrimes. As a result, it is evident that social media platforms are the. main factors of security awareness, not just to relay only on traditional media.
The study concluded several recommendations, including; improvement of social awareness as a main goal to curd cybercrimes, in addition to setting up well informed plans and strategies as per the indications related to cybercrimes. Furthermore, to improve security information work flow and enhance skills and potentials throughout enrolling them in specialized courses in one of the leading international media institutions which will enable them to duties and responsibilities efficiently and meet up with today`s requirements. The main purpose of improving security media is to deal with the results of illegal behaviour and different crimes. This shall be achieved through studying the reality of crime and develop security planes for future purposes amid the evolve of these crimes factually and systematically. Not to forget, the directions of public opinion .which will contribute in building community knowledge throughout media.
