English abstract
Emotional intelligence is one of the most important psychological factors studied
to understand the mechanisms that affect workers' current and future attitudes,
impressions, and behaviors in service institutions, especially in light of globalization and
technological advancements. This study aimed to test the impact of emotional intelligence
on organizational commitment and job performance for employees working at the
University of Technology and Applied Sciences, specifically technical colleges.
The study followed the quantitative methodology and employed the questionnaire
as the primary tool for data collection, which was distributed electronically to
administrative employees in the seven colleges of technology using the convenient
sampling method. The researcher obtained 259 valid responses for the analysis. In
addition, SPSS was used to answer the study questions and test its hypotheses.
The findings of the study showed that there is a strong and significant positive
relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance, while the relationship
between emotional intelligence and organizational commitment came to a medium
degree. In addition, the results showed that "motivation" is the most influential dimension
of emotional intelligence in affecting organizational commitment and job performance.
The results also found significant differences in the respondents' responses about
emotional intelligence due to the age groups.
The study concluded with a set of recommendations, most notably the need to
understand and activate the role of emotional intelligence in the higher education sector
so that individuals can work with this thought in the future in all matters of life. In
addition, intensive training courses in emotional intelligence should be organized because
of its significant impact on the development of educational institutions.
