English abstract
This article discusses the growing concern over recent outbreaks of avian influenza, particularly the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain, which has caused significant impacts on poultry farming and has spread to mammals, including cattle. While the current risk to human health remains low, the potential for the virus to adapt and spread among mammals raises fears of a future pandemic. The article emphasizes the importance of enhanced surveillance, biosecurity measures, and learning from the COVID-19 pandemic to prevent further outbreaks and manage the economic and public health implications.
